Caution: The fiberglass door surface is resistant to most all chemicals. The PVC edge of door and the ABS or PVC Window frame is not resistant to chemicals and must not have stripper dwell on those surfaces. Any prolonged exposure will cause damage to those surfaces.
Using painters tape, tape off PVC edges of the recessed or flat edge of door. Shown in the adjacent picture
If glass is installed also tape the PVC or ABS window frame.
Apply stripper to the Fiberglass Door surface, dwell, and remove stripper according to the Manufactures instructions. Note; Lightly scrap the coating off in the direction of the wood grain for that product; be careful not to gouge the surface.
Clean surface thoroughly with Low Odor Mineral Spirits. Note; For smooth and wood grain surface use medium to soft brush to clean the recessed graining or panel corners.
Results may vary; It is always advised to test small areas before proceeding with the whole door; Keep in mind that the polymeric window frames and door edge cap is comprised of polymeric materials that are susceptible to softening with prolonged exposure to certain chemicals / solvents. After the chemicals /solvents have evaporated the surface hardness will return. When certain grades of stiff bristle brushes are used on the chemically softened the door edge or window frames surfaces can be abraded, great care in the method of removal is advised.
Follow manufacturer’s instructions in regards personal protection.
